HELP HELP Will an Igloo 5600 PWM sink do the job

Post by Deadbob »

I read your review on the Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX and was hoping you
could give me
your opinion on the above Cooler.
I am running it on a Pentium D830 CPU 3.0 (OC to 3.75) in an ASUS P5WD2
premium MB
Idle temps 47-50 Celsius and loaded 65-72 Celsius.

Now to the meat - I want to put the 5600 in a system with a Q6600 and
an ASUS P5KC MB
with either DDR2 667 (which I have now - 2 GB's) or change to 2GB's of
PC3 8500.
Will this work - the 5600 runs anywhere from 1900 - 3750 Rpm depending
on load and is fully
auto.

Can I do this!!

Well if it can cope with a furnace that is the pentuim D dual cores (overclocked at that!), then i'm sure it will be more than capable of coping with the Q6600.

For some hard facts the orginal TDP (before you overclocked) of the PD830 was 130W, and the Q6600 is 105W. So the Q6600 outputs less heat.
