What is the best way to mount fans on a radiator. I have a black ice pro 3 rad and 3 yate loon fans. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

With only having 3 fans, it wont really make a huge difference push or pull. The best thing you can do is try out both ways for yourself.

The main point it comes down to is; what setup is easier to fit in/on your case.

The plan was to pull the air through. What i meant to ask (brain doesn't always communicate with the fingers well) is how to physically mount the fans to the rad? The rad has screw holes but they are not threaded. It would be damn near impossible to get nuts on the screws. I was thinking about using sillicone. It would help to seal the rad so air does not get in through random open spots and also cut down on any vibration noise.

A few methods for mounting include, but are not limited to:

- Hardware such as fine threaded 2~3 inch screws through the fan and radiator air-centers with large head backup washers using a smaller lock-washer and nut.

- Most everyone's favorite, black zip-ties through the fan mounting holes and radiator air-centers. Hit, use a foam gasket between the fans and radiator to prevent rattles.

- Some even use velcro.

- A mounting shroud for the fans to the radiator where as the radiator sits snuggly into the shroud that mounts to the case.

- Double stick tape pads on the corners of each fan applied/pressed onto to the radiator.

- Some radiators have a metal flange reinforcement that allows fan mounting or shroud mounting. See if your radiator offers that.

LOL, I was replying exactly to what you question was before you backdoored my reply.

You can use either 6-32 machine screws or #6 sheet metal screws to secure the fans. Be extremely careful not to use screws that are to lone as they will punch a hole in the radiator. For open corner fans, normally 3/8" screws will work, double check the length though, for 25mm closed corned fans, 1 and 1/8 " screws should be OK. Only problem is finding the correct length again, you'll more than likely have to get 1 and 1/4 and file them down so as not to damage the radiator.

No worries Dan i know how it goes . Ended up using #6 sheet metal screw and the worked great. At stock speeds I am running at 34c across all for processors per coretemp under load, should get a bit better after a bit of burn in.
