A little creative direction..if you will..

I wanted to ask the opinion of some of you(or who reads this anyway)..in time I'm jumping over to the good ol i7 soon(tax return)..and considering my current predicament(unemployed) I've been scratching my noggin as to how I will get this going..I'm looking towards getting 2 of those new gtx295's or whatever they're called..I normally don't read into things until its been released but hey cant help it.I read that the maximum power draw may be around 290 watts on those beasts..So I got the idea of using 2 psu's on this new rig due to some cost crunching..(that way I can get the hard drive I want)..The current PSU in my sig is gonna go to the gpu's I was thinking(since it should have enough amps and what not)..and my other 650 watt will do the rest of the rig..I should be able to have enough on that 750 to power those cards I would imagine. What do ya'll think? Was originally thinking of getting the corsair 1000 watter but I would like to use that $200+ to get the 300gig Velociraptor if possible..

You need to make sure there is some load on the 5v and 3.3v rails on the GPU power supply as they don't like working with no load (to the point where it can kill the PSU).
Corsair's PSUs are designed well enough that you'll only need a couple of amps on each of the other rails to keep it working properly (If you can't find anything to provide this load and if you don't mind wasting electricity, you could rig up some resistors to provide some load for the non 12v rails).

I *think* you can get adaptors that will let you piggyback the slave PSU to the main PSU's start signal wires so they both turn on together, but if not, it shouldn't be too hard to rig up a wire from the main start signal wire to the slave PSU.

You going to have enough room in your case to have 2 PSUs and 2 (big) GPUs all the wires that go along with it?

And what resolution are you planning on gaming at to need all that graphics power?

you can get y adaptors for the 24 pin plugs. i would recomend hooking up disc/harddrvies/fans to each powersupply to balance it out

Ill be gaming at 192*1200..but I wouldnt mind top notch performance with all the anti-aliasing too...i mean my gtx280 runs pretty decent with all that on but i know it can be better..I have found a case that should hold 2 psu's( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811119160 ) note that the holes for the water cooling tubes appear removable so it looks like another psu can go in. and luckily i even found a place that has those y adapters so i dont have to jimmy rig anything(hopefully) Soo what you guys say is I should at least power some fans and maybe my disc drive along with the gpus..then the mobo and rest of the rig on the other psu?

yeah, put some fans/harddrives/discdrives on both of the psu's

coolness..will do that...I wouldn't have minded the 1000 watter...but considering I've gone through 3 psu's in almost 3 years anyway (first died, 2nd one wasn't good enough for my gtx280..now on current one) so I figured why buy a new one if I can do 2 at once.. Plus I've always wanted to do the SLI thing since it began and never had the chance(or funds) to do it..and somehow..now i do lol..thanks for the help, really..Hard to believe it's been 3+ years since i joined here(first and only forum I've joined) and you guys have always kicked ass on helping out..so thanks again for everything, I've learned a $h*t load from ya'll
