If I'm reading this correctly the HX620W will not support two 4870's as each 4870 needs two 12V rails and the HX620W only has two. Is that correct?

The HX620w has enough power to run two HD 4870s however I believe it only has 2 PCIe power connectors. So, you could use a molex -> PCIe adapter to run the two HD 4870s. The number of rails in a powersupply doesn't matter so long as you don't dump your entire load on a single rail of a multi-rail powersupply.

I re-read Nates follow up of this PSU and he mentioned the same thing. I guess I'll just have to find a set of those.

A lot of video cards currently come with them. Just checked and my GTX 260s, GTX285s, and HD4870x2 all came with one.

So what's it gonna take to get you to mail those to me?

Seriously though, can I run both Molex to PCIE adapters off one cable or do I need a seperate cable for each adapter? Meaning if the cable has two molex plugs can I just use that cable and two molex to PCIE adapters to power the one card?

You can run them both off the one cable as long as that one rail has the amps, which it should. ........;)

I also have a bunch of those adapters around the house.

I also e-mailed Corsair to see if the ever made the dual PCIE cables that Brian talks about in his follow up review.

I've searched and searched and cannot find if the Powercolor uses the ATI refrence board layout. I'm probably going to have to water cool these bad boys and am wondering if the Koolance card cooler would work.

Answered my own question. Here's the response from Koolance for those who are interested.

In this case, later 4870 cards have a taller row of caps between the GPU and outside VReg heat sink. Currently, that appears to include cards by Sapphire (100259-1GL in particular, but possibly others), PowerColor, Palit, and now Diamond. We have added these to our product wizard.

EK makes a 4870 block where you can remove thw V-reg section, you might want to take a look at those, but I'm not sure if the mounting holes would line-up or not.

If you're brave, pull your heat sink off and take a look at the position of the components, if they look like the included pic, its a reff card (doesn't matter about the color).

I've actually e-mailed a few companies this weekend about this very issue. I e-mailed Aqua Computer, EK, and of course Gabe @ Swiftech asking who makes solutions for my card. My card appears to look like this without the cooler:



Fortunatly both my cards are identical as Powercolor apparently released two diffrent PBC's for my card. So if I can find a cooler that will work it'll work for both cards. The Koolance might work but it looks like that one Pot is in the way and there might be clearance issues with the copper reinforcing bracket they use.

I'm really hoping that Swiftech cooler works for it as it will clear the bracket, is small, from Swiftech, and is reasonably priced. I don't really want to OC the card, just keep it cool and quiet. That and now I have the water cooling bug.

Call corsair and they will mail you the cables you need for their PSU free of charge last I knew.

I did after Stolle mailed them to me. The guy I dealt with was fantastic. Said he mailed out the cables on Monday so maybe I'll have them sometime this week. If it wasn't for Brians review of the PSU I wouldn't have even known that was an option. So thanks Legit for helping me out.

Well Stollie's cables finally came. The fan on the card spins up but that's about it. Examing his cables one of them is damaged on the connector. So I can only assume it's the cables fault. I'm using my new card right now as my main card. Swapped it with my older 4870 to make sure the card was good. Guess I'll have to wait for the new cables from Corsair.

I swear it was in good shape when I sent it. Post or send me an image to see whats wrong with it.

I'm not mad bro. It's not like I traded the games for the cables and i'm expecting some cables any day from Corsair.
