I have a Dell XPS 420, I want to upgrade the video card that came with it (Nvidia 8800gt) to a Nvidia GTX 285. I know that I'm going to have to upgrade the Power supply too because I only have a 425w power supply, which isn't nearly enough to power for a Nvidia GTX 285, but I heard that you have to get a special BTX power supply for BTX motherboards is that true or can I just use any power suppy as long as it is 24 pin???? Also any other problems I might run into, upgrading to a GTX 285???

Dell XPS 420 Upgrade, any problems, BTX PSU?
Re: Dell XPS 420 Upgrade, any problems, BTX PSU?
As far as I'm aware, BTX uses the same connectors, but is a different form factor (shape). So you should be able to plug up a decent ATX PSU just fine, but if it will fit in the area made for the BTX PSU securely is another matter.

other than the psu..as long as you can physically fit the video card in place inside the tower you should be fine
