Can you use mineral oil instead of a coolant or water? I mean if you get a leak you have much less to worry about and it flows about the same.

It would work just fine, but I don't know if it absorbs the heat as good as a made-for-coolant would.

As it's thicker it'll decrease your flow which will hinder performance and result in higher temps.
Try using some non-conductive coolant made just for PC watercooling.

I use some coolent by a company called Fesser One. It's been pretty reliable and it completely dielectric (doesn't conduct). It also contains anti-bacterial and anti-corrosive additives. Was $20 I think for a liter which was more than enough for my whole system (have half of it left).

I will sure be doing some water cooling now! I didn't do it for so long because even though I'm confident in my McGyver skills and being able to put things together. I was worried that JUST IN CASE something happened I didn't want a $250 water cooler destroying Zues my new gaming PC in the works.

haha, it's bad luck to say what you want without doing it first!
