Hey guys I have plans on buying a new GFX when I go to Italy next month, now I have plans on buying a 285GTX but I am not sure if my PSU will be powerful enough. So I hope some of you here might be able tell me that.

My current system looks like this:

Intel Q9550 Quadcore 2.8ghz + XIGMATEK Achilles CPU Cooler
4x2GB = 8GB DDR-2 Dual Channel 800Mhz RAM
NForce 650i SLI Motherboard
1x500GB (Some western digigal HDD)
1x Standard DVD-RW Drive

I believe there is 2 case fans aswell, and some lights in and around my case.

The current GFX I have is a GeForce 8800GT 512MB Ram, I have been up til now using 2x GeForce 8800GT 512MB running SLI, but one of them has now a RAM error and my 1 year warrenty on the computer is out. So now is a good time to upgrade anyway.

When I buy the 285GTX I was hoping I could use the GTX as my main card obviously and then have the 8800GT as dedicated PhysX card, But here is the question:

Will my current 750W PSU be enought to handle that considering my hardware. I know I ran 2x8800SLI without any problems, im just wondering aobut the GTX+8800GT

What brand and model is the PSU you have now?

I don't think so dude..you can try it..but I'm not gonna put any bets on it. that PSU only has around 18 AMPs on each rail(from what i could find online..was in Japanese) so I would get a new PSU if I were you. I had a SeaSonic 650 watt PSU with only 18 amps on its rails and it couldn't handle a gtx280 when i had one... if you're looking to stay int he 750 watt area for a PSU, the Corsair TX-750 will do the job no problem. it has alot of Amps, and from personal experience, I ran two 285's in SLI on it and it worked just fine in my i7 rig before I went to a bigger PSU

Ok, well do you think it could handle only the GTX285, then I put the 8800GT in again when I got a new PSU?

nope. not enough amps..like i said..you can try it,..but I wouldn't count on it IMO..a 285 needs 42 amps int he system to run properly

Ok thanks for the help mate, I'l go with a bigger PSU then. I might just buy a Corsair TX850W then, you reckon that one is able to handle both cards? and in even 2xGeforce 285GTX at a later point when they drop in price?
