well, should I?

i think the screw heads are recessed enough to not interfere, and i have some system downtime waiting for a 1055T
(the scuffs you cant even feel btw)

I wouldn't do it. That's what I voted. I have a hard time these days fixing something that isn't broke. And for what? Maybe a couple of degrees. If you do lap, give us before and after temps.

hmm, that would involve waiting for the 1055T, assembling it, disassembling it then lapping then reassembling, instead of just doing it now in my free time and be good to go when the 1055T does arrive(not purchased yet, next week)... im also running it dual fan now, taking in air from the back of the case(directly outside) with no fan grille(jigsaw'd out)

im not really looking to compare the difference as i already know it is negligible from when i lapped both the E7200 and its cooler, I just want the best cooling possible for the highest stable overclock on the 6core in the end

looking at the poll so far, and my own ambition, i will dig up the ultrafine sandpaper tomorrow and get crackin' on it

go ahead and lap it... You can see from this picture that I took that the base plate is rather thick and you won't be sanding through it or anything:

Do it! Let us know, because I'm thinking of getting an H50 and doing the same.

Lapping it would be good,I have lapped in the past with good results..The 1055T runs pretty cool as I have mine running at 3.8ghz and it idles at 32c and underload about 50c with the Noctua..1.44vcore

I had the H50 for about 2 months and it sprung a leak,RMA'D it then sold it...Just something to think about because im sure lapping it would void any warranty...

pffft warrantees, who needs those(except for motherboard GPU and CPUs as theyre expeeensive) might need some overclocking suggestions with my 1055T, as we also have the same board!

gots my setup ready to go (5/8" MDF and water for wet sanding, 320-2000 grit paper, wish i had more 320 as i used it pretty heavily to start out)

protected the rad since it will be flopping all over the place as i sand the block

after 320-dry: (with each sanding stage i would clean the sandpaper with water after dry sanding good, when i went wet sanding, i'd clean the paper several times before moving on to the next grit paper: 320dry(crosspattern(opposite original grooves))->320wet(same direction) -> 600dry(across from the 320) ->600wet(same direction) -> 800dry(across from the 600) -> 800wet(same direction) ->1500dry(across from 800) -> 1500wet(same) ->2000 dry(same) ->2000wet(same) -> papertowel w/copper polish to buff, same direction)

320-wet:

600 dry:

600 wet:

800 wet:

1500 wet:

2000 wet+copper polish

the cutout of the back of the case(not clean, i know, #1:back of the case, #2 touching up the paint would be too much effort for too little gain, i was very careful with the jigsaw to not harm the surrounding paint) this fan will be run on a fan controller, the pump is using a 3pin-molex connector to run 100%, and the interior Corsair fan will be run on the boards 4pin header unless i decide to move the fans around and use a super high flow 120mm fan i have on the controller(dont use it currently as it is loouuuud)

Nice finish on the heatsink,that setup should keep your 1055T cool...I ran the H50 on a Phenom II [email protected] and it did a good job with my temps until it gave out on me, so I just went back to the regular stock air cooling...You should be able to hit 3.8 pretty easily on faily low voltages...The 1055T overclocks like a champ as does the 1090T also..
