HX 1050 Silver RMA!

So I need to RMA my HX1050 as the thermistor exploded with a loud bang and spark for no reason last week. it completely destroyed the thermistor. So I login to corsair customer portal and create a ticket with them stating the issue but of course as I purchased the PSU on eBay I need the sellers original purchase receipt to complete the RMA process. he doesn't have it.

So I told corsair the seller cannot find the receipt but as the PSU has 7 years warranty and was released in the uk around January 2011 means I have until January 2018. but again no original proof no RMA says corsair. so I now have a £2000 pc sat here doing nothing with no money to buy a replacement.

Anyone know if they can help with the RMA process? :)

This is why I gave up on ebay years ago. Overpriced and no support/warranty.

Did you register the warranty when you bought it? Although you would have had to have the receipt then too I guess. :( 2 months away from 7 years too. Does it have the manufactured date stamped on it? Maybe they would allow that as proof?

well after a long chat with corsair, they said if a brought a corsair product in the last 2 years then I can use that as proof of purchase and rma from there. PSU has now been shipped and awaiting the arrival by scan computers, in which have corsair rma team within the company. They have said that they will never downgrade only upgrade. So if my PSU is not in stock (EOL unfortunately)they will upgrade me to the closest in spec they have in stock at scan.

Any idea what PSU this would be replaced with?

well I got my replacement today and I have the hx1000i. the link software doesn't do anything that hwinfo cant already do. but after checking hwinfo against link I get the same readings from both except hwinfo is more accurate due to decimal point. (+12v on LINK 12.2v & +12v on Hwinfo 12.225v)

Happy with the unit so far and 10 year warranty is always a good thing :)

3 setups here and all are Corsair PSU's! :supz:
I've only had 1 fail and that was during a Thunderstorm!

that's not bad going :)

As you can see in my sig, i have corsair memory and psu. recently added the corsair ml120 pro red edition fans to my lepa exllusion 240 rad. looking at getting some more corsair red led fans for intake to replace my aerocool ds fans. hopefully get a corsair memory cooler. the geil cyclone I got is good enough but it's to bulky for me.
