DFI NF4 Expert, Opteron 175.. Wondering how Id be with the xp-90 or xp-120 (aluminum) with perhaps a panaflo fan?

The dual cores run hot. I had my 170 on the si-120 with a panaflo and the temps were ok for most things. However, I was overclocking about 40%. If you aren't going to OC or maybe just a little, it should be fine. I'd go with the 120 though.

well his opty 175 is made to run at 2.2 i believe and right now I have it running @ 2.61 and its normally high 40's (celcius) when folding (dual folding that is 8) )

Your not going to get much lower without making alot of noise!!!

Your best bet is to the the Corsair H2O kit for ~150 bucks......it will cost a bit more than a XP120 and a good fan, but well worth it!

Apop uses it for his testbench and when he was OC'in the (intel) dual core his temps were fine......with amd they should be even better ;)

OR why not remove the IHS :evil: :)
I lowered my temps by ~8C and now I can run with lower voltage too!

I've even offered to take the IHS of a mates 4400+ for him......I said I'd give him my chip if I killed it......but he's too chicken.....[/i]

yeah cant get much better than that, my X2 at 2.6ghz sits at ~44c under water with full folding load.
