Does anyone know how good the Aspire 680w series is? Or any Aspire power supply, for that matter.

Aspire is total crap, stay away from their PSUs.
If a PSU is under $75 and over 450W then that is your fisrt indication that the quality is suspect.

Yeah, I kinda figured they would'nt be good, just had to ask.
So far my 500w is working fine, I'll just save up for a truepower 750 or something.

Fortron (FSP Group) are prolly the best value for money!
They are quality PSU's and are cheap'ish......
