Lookin for an mATX case with a nice handle.

Post by Kerii »

Alright, so I already have an original Fragbox clone, but am looking to replace it with one that can take a better graphics card, such as the 7900GT that's sitting in eVGA's Step-Up/RMA warehouse, and possibly combining it with my desktop PC into one ultimate portable gaming system. :P

Thing is, I'm an aesthetic nut. I can't stand fugly looking cases. Hell I spent $220 on my Fragbox clone barebones (Impression iCube v800). Frankly, no other case out there seemed to have a decent or sturdy looking handle.

And it would seem this time there is no clone available for the case I want either, the Fragbox 2. Silverstone manufactured it, but their own version lacks the handle completely. And the barebones case FNW offers only has that fugly skull logo on it (the falcon logo reserved for complete systems).

So... just wondering if anyone out there knows of any other decent cases.
I'm only one person, so I'm sure I must have missed something on my search. :P

The S-presso seems nice, but only has AGP, and I can't really find out anywhere whether or not the motherboard is proprietary (so I can replace it).

QPack seems ok, but that handle...
And the MicroFly looks to be an exact copy of the QPack, which is an exact copy of the Chenming MATX-118 (who probably OEMs the case to both companies).

well in my lengthy search for a good mATX SFF case the only nice decent one I found was the lian-li pc-v300 its around $100 but no handle... but uses all standard parts.

me I would loose the handle all together and just get a dufflebag to haul it in or you could go to the hardware store and find a nice handle and put it on the case.

In my wondering over lunch I ran accross this case from moutain mods

its 14.59 x 11.11 x 12.21 inches (L x W x H) compared to the qpack's 13.8" x 11.2" x 9" (L x W x H)

and it has a handle, but its 150 bucks

I agree. Drill two holes, trip to home depot. I like Mountain Mods, but you could make something that looks better than what bubba posted. That's just a bathroom cabinet handle.

That's what I thought. :P

But I do appreciate you helping me look.

Argh, I really don't like doing any type of serious case modifications, I'm not exactly the carpenter type so I just know it's going to turn out looking like a turd.
