It only took me nearly a year!

Grr, i had most of this post all wrote out and IE decided to crash

Does anyone remember this post? Well it took me this long to get round to buying a new case! Well its mostly my parents fault because they wouldn't let me touch the case till after its year warranty had ended (strange I know) but this ended in may and I'd forgotten. But a hard drive corruption brought it back to my attention  fortunately we got all our data back (had to pay someone to do it though as we couldn't get windows up). So from then on we ran the PC with the side off and I started looking for a new case.

I eventually came across this one. No more heat issues with that case! And it has a nice 120mm fan blowing on the HD's. I didn't want to buy an expensive case as I am wanting to build a PC soon (as I'm sure you already know :P). Well it arrived today and I had fun putting all the old stuff in the new case (Its strange putting dusty stuff in a new case!)

So here she is (click pics to enlarge):

I especially like the blue LED on black look, might mod the side fan too with some LED's :)

The amount of room from a mini to a midi is a major improvement, especially with only a mATX board, check it out, before and after (and no i couldn't tidy up the wires):

The only gripes I have with this case are the tackiness of the front CD/DVD drive covers (but it was a cheap case, so i cant really grumble!) and the fan connector for the huge fan on the side

I don't have any 4pin molex connectors left, so I had to modify the wiring and swap round the connector on the end for a pass through. That little box is a variable speed dial, kinda nifty, but doesn't make a huge difference in noise or airflow so i have it on minimum.

Of course i put a new sticker on the side of the case, so its going to perform faster now. If you don't believe me, here's my best 3DMark06 before and after:

That lil OC took me upto spot number 4 for my card on ORB

And you know that faster overclock was purely down to the sticker on the side, not the fans.

Nice turbine!!! errr...case :)

That cable laying over the fan on the video card doesnt look safe though

I dont run 3dmark anymore, I dont think they report in negative numbers :p my old FX5900 does good enough for me right now, except Oblivion, the bastards.

Hey that card reader almost blended in so well that I didnt see it  just kidding ya, setup looks real nice!

Yeah, I had too, I had to re-download it to test this :P
(I'm still proud that I got my laptop's go5200 above 200 points in 3Dmark05!!!)

The graphics fan/cable issue is fine as the opening to the fan is at the bottom, not the top.

Before with the old case, at night it was like a little heater and it kept your feet nice and warm, now it just chills your legs some more, might have to get some thermal socks

Looks good, but is that clear packing tape holding the fan off the HDD tray? :axe:

Nice case, Dan. Not my style (I've got an Antec P150), but so long as it does what you want, that's all that matters ;)

Median has a case with a nice BiG 250mm fan on the side too.

So, do you have a slight negative air pressure in the case when all of the fans are powered up? 8)
