Need suggestion for cooling e6600

Post by boozie »

Ok, I've never built a computer before but after looking into things for awhile I've picked out a few things I want and still have some up in the air.

I'm planning on purchasing a e6600 with an asus p5b deluxe. Going to put it in either thermaltake armor or antec sonata II. What I don't know is what type of fan or fan/heatsink to get for the cpu and I know next to nothing about them. (i've read the stock one isn't very good and I may get around to overclocking in a year or 2 so may as well get the fan on now).

Ease of installation is really important to me since I don't want to mess everything up. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

well I'm not really up on air cooling, but if your not OCing the stock cooler will be fine. But what is your budget for the Ocing heatsink.

well I'm not going to OC it just yet cuz I don't think I'll need it but in a few years the boost might be more appreciated. I heard the stock fan was hard to install so I figured if it's going to be a rough go anyways I may as well just replace it now so I don't have to take everything out later. Money doesn't really matter, I'm just worried I'll break something. (I dont' see myself spending more than 60 bucks I guess for something). Doesn't have to be extremely top of the line, simple = better for me.

once quad-cores come out here in the next couple months you'll want one or you'll OC that one ;) Any nice heat pipe cooler should work fine if you want air. I've used the Zalman ones and they work great.

not to be a pain, but is it possible you could link me something in particular off of newegg or w/e is handy. Should I look to buy a fan that will stick out the side(and fit right) of my thermaltake armor tower?
