I heard a rumor that OCZ is going to launch their 1000W ProXstream at CES and when I did a google search it seems pictures and samples have been out since November 2006... What makes this unit special is that it is sized like a regular ATX PSU, so it will fit in all cases.





The UL number is E190414, which means it was made by FSP GROUP INC. It has four +12V rails and has four 6-pin PCIe headers on it... It's not modular as you can see. Looks like they got rid of the 120mm fan and had to use a 80mm fan to save space and to keep it the same size.

Nice, probally runs about 199 bucks (without looking up a damn thing) looked couldnt find sqyat on it. but i think i am probally off by 100 bucks judging by the other one out there......DAMN

well a little research. Apparently this number of PSU was approved by UL in 02.

Also it was only rated up to 700W, I'm assuming here that this is the same build the GameXtremes use. So most likely the up the caps so that it could provide more power.

My main concern with this was the ripple issue the GameXtremes have. If they can fix that, and they can get high efficiency out of this thing. It'll be a good psu

Been using it with my P5B Deluxe http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=3311 for a while now very solid.. the small form factor is probably the best thing about the psu - and the fact it has 4x PCI-E connectors

can you comment on the ripple has it been fixed?

dont own or know how to use a scope so can't really test it .. but from the performance characteristics and rail tests (if you can guage this), the 1kw proxstream performs differently from gamexstream 700w i have so i guess proxstream isn't based on same design as gamexstream range... it's more similar to 600w evostream with strong steady rails even under load.. less fluctuation that gamexstream

From memory gamexstream under heavy load +12v rail has <0.8% drop in rails vs evostream +12v rail <0.08% drop under load. Proxstream so have almost zero drop under load even with Q6600 kentsfield under load.
