That article says that car sales are at their highest...gee, it couldn't be because both Ford AND GM had employee discount sales, could it?

Yeah, but even that could change if people would just look at the Fair Tax resolution that needs to get approved. If it can just get through Congress, we can keep all our paycheck, not pay property or vehicle taxes, all with only a 23% consumption tax, thus encouraging us to save, and even then there would be a prebate for the tax up to the Federal Poverty Level. This resolution would take the tax pains out of things like IRA's and the such....If only.........

The US government is already hundreds of billions of dollars in debt, this wouldn't help their situation at all...

Yeah, that's true, and that's probably why we'll be stuck with this crappy tax code that costs millions of dollars to uphold each year.

Hmm, how deep a hole our government officials have dug for us. Jeez, 7 trillion dollars?!?!?!? It's gonna be hell repaying that, IF we repay it. I checked gas prices today, and it's up to $2.43 a gallon for regular without additives, and that's in a low-demand region of Spartanburg County here in SC (in a high-demand, I've seen it as high as $2.69 a gallon for regular!). Couple that with the fact that the housing bubble is about to burst and go sky-high in even the lowest-priced regions of the country, a lot of Americans are in deep sh*t.

I don't drive..
But I think this IS the way of the future

"Experimental Hybrid Cars Get Up to 250 Mpg"
http://livescience.com/technology/05081 ... d_car.html

Seems, on average this guy can get 80/Mpg...

What will happen here is, Oil prices will stay up for a while after/if this current situation settles.. Will stay high because of nervousness.... Then They jack up the price soon after, because something else will come up..

Eventually prices will go sky high because of world shortages.

The moral of the story people is.. Look into alternative fules now..

I wish i could afford it, belive me i looked very closely at getting a hybrid after my honda was sold, in the end the cost of a new Hybrid was just to much next to getting another old clunker. I could not make the 300+ payments every month, it was much easier to just come up with 5k cash and be done with it.

peaked in Spartanburg, SC to 3.49 for Premium, 3.29 for Regular; those prices now are 3.19 for Premium and 2.99 for Regular; all I know is that not having a job and having to try to fill up a '89 Suburban is extremely difficult. All I know is something better happen soon, or I'm just going to have to get in shape and start riding my bike, lol.
