Don't know how legitimate this is, but the price is quite nice if the specs are right

We've been able to confirm pricing on ATI's upcoming R600-series GPUs - here's the breakdown:
R600 $499.00
R630 XT $199.00
R630 Pro $179.00
R610 $99.00

nVidia is gonna have their hands full if these prices are true.

I love competitive pricing... I just wish that AMD/ATI wasn't so far behind right now. The sooner AMD Quad-Core comes out and ATI releases this beast maybe we will see some more price drops.

Unless these ATI cards aren't as good as we think

I thought I read somewhere about their power consumption is going to be outrageous though.
Still, i'd love to see the 8800GTX come down to around $350 if this does put pressure on nVidia

You know I remember buying TOP of the line video cards for $399 before tax. Yet, 499 is a step in the right direction. Anyone else think this may have something to do with the probe into price fixing?

I think it has to do with the fact that they are competing with a product that already has 6 months worth of market penetration not to mention NV will be ready to release a refresh and drop the prices on the 88XX series as the 89XX are released to rain all over AMD's parade. I really hope AMD can get back on the ball, but they are now fighting wars on 2 fronts with to very hostile and dangerous enemy's in NV and Intel. Each of them has more developers and more resources currently and are making sure they put the screws to AMD while they can s they know it won't last forever. R600 should be about that price as they know NV will have an immediate answer is just my best guess. Just like Intel will immediately counter Barcelona.

I'm actually starting to save my money back for an sli configuration. I know the r600 shouldn't beat two 8800 gtx's in sli. Then again, they might.

If the prices are true , NVIDIA is looking at some hard time

Don't think for a second that NVIDIA can't and won't lower prices if they needed to... It would be a price war like AMD/Intel though and while it's good for us, both of those companies stocks would get hammered and a few jobs might get cut.

Not really. Nv will cut prices on the 88XX cards which the R600 was to compete with and just roll out the 89XX cards to keep their higher end prices up. The R650 is a ways off, and NV is a full move ahead at this time.

the price for an ultra high-end card is very high
so i think a price war is in place

Just to clear the air on this.... Some of the prices are like $100 off.. I know the real pricing, so please don't go by these numbers. The site that reported these numbers doesn't have the cards and wasn't invited to either tech briefing that AMD/ATI did, so how they came up with these numbers is beyond me. You'll be happy with the real prices and the bundle!
