A place for us to say thank you to our community by offering hardware contests! This is the place to be to check out and sign up for contests that Legit Reviews holds. If you don't like the prizes or how the contests are being run just don't enter and wait till the next contest!
What a fantastic competition, and a brilliant way to get people interested and active in the site.
It usually takes quite a bit to get me to sign-up with a community, (I do hang around on the outskirts often though) but I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to join in on this one.
I've got a, more or less, finished design I'll put up soon. I want to give myself a bit more time though, to tweak it to perfection.
Can we use copyrighted material? Just wondering because I though we can't, at least it would make sense not to use somebody's artwork on your own design unless you give them credit for it. That would have made my job a lot easier and faster...

I would suggest not using copyrighted material, not only does your design mean more to yourself as something original that you've worked your hardest on, but it becomes your own personality with your design. Along with not only standing out with your design you will defiantly feel like your design is worth putting several hours into it. Try to create something original but make it your own flair.

I also aware that this contest is to promote the brands involved in the contest and to attract new members to the forums, however I hope the winner doesn't end up being a one time poster to only enter the contest and never come back. I do see in the rules that you have to be an "active member" to enter, I was just wondering "how active"??
Well, I am one of the first time "posters" and I found this forum through facebook. If it wasn't for this contest then I do not know if I would have found it. I have been reading a lot of different forums and reviews from this site and have gleaned a lot of great information so this contest has done a great job at promoting legit reviews, AMD, and ATI and that is one of the reasons to have a contest like this.
There are some great entries and I am sure a bunch more will enter this week. Great job everyone.

I also signed up to the forums to enter the contest... A lot of us did, (even though some of us lurked before). I just hope people will stick around after all is said and done. I've seen it happen so many times. People enter a contest then never return, whether they win or not. I'm sure the winners will stay, (hopefully), but I'm also sure that a lot of the people not selected to win will not come back. I think it should be elaborated on what "active member means". In my opinion somebody who only has 1 or 2 posts is NOT active. Active should mean at least 5 or more posts during the contest time frame or something like that. It would get all the new joiners to become valuable members of the community!
Anybody who signed up to enter should, out of respect, get active around the forums. This is a great contest and showing you are grateful to the sponsors and LR by posting in a few of the topics isn't a hard task to accomplish.
RULES:
1) This contest is open to Legit Reviews forum members with a valid shipping address anywhere in the world, but taxes and tariffs are not covered if they should apply
2) The winner will be shipped his/her prize as soon as possible (if being shipped internationally it could take 4-8 weeks due to weather and/or customs)
4) Reply to this post to enter the contest by posting ONE (1) artwork submission
6) Depending on your location and how fast ATI makes the custom artwork will determine when you will get it. That means it could take a bit to reach you. Since we don't physically have the prizes we can't change shipping companies or tell you when it will exactly arrive or ship.
7) The deadline for entries will be January 22nd, 2010
8 ) The winner will be announced on January 25th, 2010 By submitting your artwork you give express consent to AMD, HIS and Legit Reviews to use your artwork
10) Use of Copyrighted images strictly prohibited
11) The one (1) Grand Prize entry will win a board with their design on it.

The only limitations as for images is that it cannot be copyrighted images that you are using. You must own the rights to the images you are using. Of course AMD, HIS and Legit Reviews has granted permission to use their images. If you want to make your card a little sexy then go for it as it is your design and you can do as you please, but of course no nudity.

Yeah, not to be rude about this one either but I've seen this image on multiple other sites as well... for example:
It's a very nice design and I like it, however we cannot use copyrighted material unless there is some sort of proof for using it.
One quick way to figure out if an image is not an original one is to use http://www.tineye.com. It's basically a search engine for pictures but you search with pictures. It shows you modified images as well and can recognize similar images to the ones you search. Anyways, I cannot accuse anybody of anything since I do not have the right to do that, as a matter a fact the artwork could be actually made by the users on here, but just a nice way to see if the image has been used somewhere else too can be done through tineye.com.

My only advice for this is to make a design from scratch so that you own the rights to it. there is still like a week left till they need to be submitted so if you used an image from the internet than you should strongly consider making another one and take the copyrighted one down.
