maxtor one touch isnt working

i have a maxtor one touch with 750 gb.recently i connected it to a computer and it got a virus i tghink but nowe it wont show up on any computer.
Is there a program which can help,with out me sending it back and every thing being deleted.

Never heard of a virus killing a USB bridge but the one touch has some intelligence behind it.

Sounds like you have tried it in other PCs. Have you tried reinstalling the driver for it?

it didnt come with a cd it was a plug and connect device you know

If you go into device manager when you have plugged in the drive, does it show up at all?

left part of the main page is all the software and such for the one touch series. Since your's is the 750gb I'm assuming its the series 4, if thats the case there is a CD ISO you can download that may have tools on it you can use.

Other than that, carefully crack open the cage and hook the drive up internally in your PC to get your data. Put it all back together send it back for repair.

If the drive is bad then your PC won't see it, come to think of it, if the drive is bad then the USB bridge (inside the drive cage) won't see there is a drive in it and won't connect to a PC. because it doesn't see anything to provide a connection too (hope that makes sense). If that is the case then chance that you will get anything off the drive is slim to none.

i downlooad the program and nothing happened,snd it wont even come up on the device manager screen

It looks like you are going to have to crack it open and get into the hard drive inside the caddy (to plug it directly inside your PC) if you want to try and save the data on it.

Sometimes with external hard drives you need to unplug the USB and plug it back in a few times before Windows sees it. I don't know why but it happens to me all the time. Re-boot and then try.
