Far as I know (and some one double check me) you can put a sata150 drive on a 3gbs connection but not the other way around.

Did some more looking last night. It looks like you can use the sata150 (sata I) drive on a sata3.0 (sata II) connection. This is due to the fact that sata was designed to be backward and forward compatible; but when you put a sata II drive on a sata I port but you have to have a jumper setting on the device set so it knows how to talk to board.

Exactly - sataI will work on sata2 with nothign done, sata2 will work on sata1 with a change of the jumpers on the drive. I dont think they have an auto sensing one yet.

I like sata for the nice small cable.
I never noticed a speed increase over ide.
I do NOT like sata when it uses cables without clips at the end to hold it in. I have had cables fall off already

No need. The WD Raptor series HD's are still SATA 1 (SATA 150), unless you will be using an SATA II HD.
