So last week my pc started clicking, opened it up and located the sound coming from the hard drive. Windows as able to start up but everytime it clicked the pc was really slow.
Searched for information on the cause through the web and decided that my hard drive was dieing.. I quickly started saving work and backing up everything. After this was done, I found a post that said if computers are on a slant it causes the hard drive to click. Sure enough my pc was on a slant. While crossing my fingers I rebooted my pc and Voila no clicking, everything back to normal.. well some what else I wouldn't be posting XD
So about a week later I finally turned off my pc, and on the next bootup the hard drive started clicking. Computer not on an angle or anything. I immediatly shut it down and on the next start the hard drive does not click.
What I did notice on the first two reboots was that windows gives an error right before it shuts off.. while it's saving settings and error pops up saying it can't write.. then it's off.
Any clues on whats going on?

Re: Clicking Hard Drive
Like everyone here said already you're drive is going to die, but it could be 5 months or tomorrow. So, backup your data now and order another one in... When that one croaks make the switch or just junk it now. If you have private data on the drive I highly suggest drilling through the platters and give it a good thunk on the floor to knock the heads off the platter.
