Setting Up a 2TB Caviar Green

Getting ready to install a WD2000CSRTL 2TB drive in an older system (SKT A!) and was wondering what conciderations are necessary besides how many partitions he would want. Have already set the jumper for 150.

The sytem is as follows

Enermax EG465P-VEFCA 450W
ABIT NF7-S rev2 - Sempron 3000+ w/ Swiftech 462 & Tt Smart Fan
2 x 1024 F1-3200USU2-2GBHS (g. skill) PC3200
Visiontek X1950 Pro XGE - Turtle Beach “Santa Cruz”
ASUS 52X CD-ROM - TDK Indi DVD+880 DVD+RW
160GB Maxtor DiamondMax9 7200 IDE

What OS? If you are installing XP Vanilla (aka no service packs) then it won't recognize anything past 137GB.

Installed the WD2000CSRTL 2TB drive in the system with basically 1 x 1TB and 2 x 500GB partitions. This HDD has the "mechanical" jumper to regress to 150.

Owner took it home today quit happy.......yesterday was a big b#@*h as his 80GB primary was swapped out for a 160 ( set 2 x 80) and wasted 1-1/2+ hours before it sunk in that I had a bad XP OS disk! Major install the primary first with all the updates install then powered it up. After remember how to use the disk manager partioning and formatting was a snap. :mrgreen:
