Im glad to see usb3.0 is finally starting to appear more and more. I cant wait till it becomes mainstream.

doesn't appear to be that far off! i'd wager that it will be the industry standard and 2.0 will be phased out by the end of 2010. It's backwards compatible like 2.0 is, so theres no real reason it shouldnt be usedDragon_Cooler wrote:Im glad to see usb3.0 is finally starting to appear more and more. USB 3.0 will be mainstream in 2011 when Intel integrates the specification into motherboard chipsets. Until then it will be on higher end products as you'll need a chip like NEC in order for it to work.
Re: OCZ USB 3.0 SSD Demo at CES 2010
I agree. Once the standard OEM mfg's can include USB3.0 without having to pay more (NEC chip) and design it into their motherboards free (Intel support), it'll be no looking back from there on...Apoptosis wrote:USB 3.0 will be mainstream in 2011 when Intel integrates the specification into motherboard chipsets. I just bought a new mobo. This begs the question.. Without having to get a new mobo will pci or PCIe addin cards work fine?
