as the title says, looking for a good router with external storage but i want hear some feed back with someone with experience, is reliable enough for back ups and what routers are good for this.

I think you mean that you want a router and a NAS system? Routers do not come with storage you need a Network Attached Storage for that. Be prepared to spend a bit of cash because it seems anything good in the NAS arena costs a lot more than I am willing to pay!

this is something I wouldn't mind, Gigabit lan with usb for external drive, but would of liked a Esata port instead. I might just grab this bad boy

Most of the newer routers have have a USB slot that provides access to the drive on net. Or there is the Time Capsule from Apple that provides backup capability and a router in one

I have the Netgear WNDR3700 which has a USB port for attached/external storage. When I first got it I thought that it might be useful...the fact is on this model (their flagship), the USB/storage port is S.L.O.W.! Painfully slow. I have network attached storage which I recommend over a router with USB built in. You can find HDD enclosures with Gigabite and eSATA connections that don't cost too much (~sub $50). Even something like this you will probably like better than relying on the router's USB port.
