Sata drives in External cases?
DO they make external cases for housing a Sata drive? I have an older IDE external drive but it appears that they don't have any really large drives in IDE. I'd like to have a 1TB or even a 2TB sata drive, but need to find an external case for it. I know there are all the premade external drives, but I want one that can be turned on and off by its own switch, not the kind that are alwasy on when the PC is on. I have a Maxtor external drive in an aluminum case.

Re: Sata drives in External cases?
Hey thanks. Do you suppose it matters whether you buy a Sata 1.5gb/s or Sata 3gb/s, or a Sata 6gb/s for something like this because isn't the speed governed by USB2.0 USB 3.0 etc?

Re: Sata drives in External cases?
it matters a bit...
USB 3.0 would be the best bet for the long run and can run pretty dang fast... check out todays USB 3.0 portable SSD review that is on the front page... hard to compare USB 2 and USB 3 as there is such a huge difference.

Re: Sata drives in External cases?
well my mobo has both USB 2.0 and 3.0, but I meant as far,as buying a Sata drive for an external enclosure, would it matter if it is Sata 2, 3 etc?
