Asustek is expected to reap in revenues of over NT$10 billion (about US$298 million) a year from this order, the sources added.
Asustek apparently won the system order after outbidding Foxconn Electronics (the registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry), the largest electronics manufacturing service (EMS) company in Taiwan, said the sources.
Sources at Asustek declined to comment on the report, citing client confidentiality, but stated that it is the company’s established policy to upgrade its OEM manufacturing business from parts and components to system products.
