PERC 5/i blues

So I'm reading around the internets and apparently the PERC 5/i makes a nice, cheap hardware RAID addition to any system...provided you have the right mobo. Does anyone here have experience with the 5/i? What recent (less than a year) mobos does it work with? You can probably guess I'm building a file server...
PS: Yes I got a new laptop. That was one heck of a story...(for anyone who reads/pays attention to signatures).
