Stupid question regarding Marvells Sata 6Gb/s Controller

I finally was able to get me a SATA 6Gb/s SSD for my computer. The current motherboard I am running is a MSI X58A-GD65 with a 970 CPU. When I hookd up the Crucial SSD on the Marvell SATA 6Gb/s controller my performance tanks. I am talking like 201MB/s on Crystal Diskmark seq read testing, there are other programs I used for testing as well needless to say the SSD did not d=do to well on them either. So I hooked it up on the ICH10R SB on the motherboard, my performance shoots up to 275MB/s on Crystal Diskmark seg read testing. I updated the BIOS on both SSD and motherboard still same.

Question is the marvell controller known to have issues running at 6Gb/s speeds? especially the first working batch? I do know that Marvel had serious issues regarding the first SATA 6Gb/s controllers on the p55 when they first got released.

First time actually being able to run SATA 6Gb/s drives on my computer, so in essence I am clueless on the marvell controller.

Yes, you need to use the Intel controller.

Yea those Marvell controllers are wack. I can't even utilize both SATA 6Gbps ports on my board without the system crashing. :x

I've disabled mine in BIOS and uninstalled the drivers...too buggy.

Thank you, I was making sure it was the controller and not my imagination.
