Saw this at Newegg and since I just bought 4 2tb drives from the Best Buy sale ($75 each!), I would really like to get a RAID 5 setup running. I have over 4 1tb drives I could incorporate into a second RAID setup also but that would be down the road a bit, I still have to get the wife's approval for the RAID enclosure.

Thoughts or suggestions are welcomed!

My drives are being shipped to my local store and should be there by this weekend I believe.

OH - whatever you suggest it has to work with Windows 7 x64!

I was looking at a RAID card to use one of the computers i have sitting around to run it but the enclosures seem to be cheaper than the cards (or close to it), so that is why I started looking at the enclosures.

Any help appreciated.

Not applicable to use on volume more than 137GB or 137GB in "combine mode" in windows ME / 98SE.
*Windows 98 first edition may not work properly.

if you have enough spare parts or system, see if you have a board with enough SATA ports and setup FreeNAS. Its based on FreeBSD, and uses ZFS to make drive pools with parity. No RAID card needed, it can be picky about HBA controllers if you wanted to pick up a controller card to run more drives than the board can handle. They have a supported hardware list. FreeNAS can also run Plex Server in a docker (virtual machine)

There is also unRAID, but that has a paid option. There is all kinds of crap you can do with that.
