file recovery

Post by Merlin »

I downloaded Active file recovery and am running it to try to recover lost data on an old drive. I started the scan last night at around 11 pm and its only 47% complete as of 2:20 pm. Does that sound right for a quad core PCU with 8 gig of ram to take that long?

Data recovery time has very very little to do with CPU and memory. Depending on how large the drive is, if it is damaged (and how badly) and how many bad sectors it has this could take a very long time to complete if the recovery software is doing a low level scan/recovery. Depending on what happened causing you to need this type of software there are other packages out there that may recover the data you need faster.
