What SATA Cable End Would You Rather Own?
Which would you rather come bundled with a motherboard?
7-Pin Straight to Straight one side Latch SATA II Data Cable:
or
7-Pin Straight to 90 degree one side Latch SATA II Data Cable:
The difference side by side would be like this:

I would personally rather see 90 deg connectors bundled. With bottom mount PSU's becoming more popular, a shorter cable would have been nice in my situation (nine hundred, drives are literally 4 inches from the mobo connectors)... but this wouldn't necessarily be the best situation for everyone.

I am going rebel and voting for straight!
I like to be able to wrap the cable UP and above the drive and run it through either the front or side of the case and feed it through from the back or front where noone ever sees it. Usually need longer cables, but it does make it look nicer.

I guess the 90 degree ones I could wrap underneath, but I am a rebel dammit

most of the time 90 degree ones, however with the 4-in-3 or 5-in-3 cages I use a lot, I prefer straight connectors, since the angled ones will not fit.

Re: What SATA Cable End Would You Rather Own?
went with straight. my 7200.10 drive is perpendicular enough for me
Re: What SATA Cable End Would You Rather Own?
I'm saying angled would be nice, straight replacements are available EVERYWHERE if angle doesn't if your space.
On the other hand straight should work in any case and you could order replacements if needed.
It would seem like there is/would be a great demand for a well designed flexible/ snapon adaptor for the ends of sata cables.

90Deg goes better when arranging the case.
espcially if you need to go under a VideoCard

Eventhough 90º angle connectors have their place I guess I still prefer them old school straight types Of course that could change with some "getting used to it"

Straight! We are talking about cables here, right? Or maybe a swivel head connector that is made cheaply and wears out on first use! Seriously though, I'll use whatever comes with the board, but I prefer the straight type.

Re: What SATA Cable End Would You Rather Own?
If I had a 90 degree cable, I would use it and it would improve my cable management, but I can live without it.
Re: What SATA Cable End Would You Rather Own?
I would have to agree with you there... I two drives = 90 degree ones, any more and you will start getting into trouble without the straight ones in a drive cage.Drizzt81 wrote:most of the time 90 degree ones, however with the 4-in-3 or 5-in-3 cages I use a lot, I prefer straight connectors, since the angled ones will not fit.
Re: What SATA Cable End Would You Rather Own?
I personally voted for the 90-Degree, although I personally think that it really depands on the design of your motherboard/case...
Some people will find the straight SATA cable more comfortable.
Eventually, I voted for the 90-degree, as I think it'll fit more mobo designs...

Re: What SATA Cable End Would You Rather Own?
I prefer the 90's as I have them in my current rig. The positioning of the sata connectors is perfect for 90 degree cable ends. Given a different motherboard, my vote might change.
