Hi Everyone.
I have a 8600GT Graphics card.
Turned the PC on today and vista started loading on my Viewsonic 22" (DVI) Monitor.
Once the scrolling bars had stoped, I heard the vista start up sound and no picture. "No Signal - Digital".
I can use it via VGA though.
I uninstalled the Nvida drivers which I had installed in the box that came with the card.
Vista restarted and DVI was working fine. But this wasnt running drivers and I can't game or use aero etc. Vista reports it as a "Generic Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Card".
I then installed the drivers that came on the disc again, rebooted and then again... DVI wouldn't work but VGA did.
I find the VGA awful on this monitor.
I have done this re-install many of time but still... it just wont work with DVI using proper drivers.
What can I do now?
I need it fixed asap.
Any replies appreciated.
Thanks.

Go to http://www.nvidia.com and get the latest drivers. The ones that ship on CDs are usually very old.

Ok, Please see below...ibleet wrote:Please post the fix here so it may help others with similar problems.

On your monitor, there may be a setting to switch between analogue (vga / dsub) and digital (dvi) - See if you can find that, and change.
Do you run dual monitors?
One more thing, go into the Nvidia control panel and see what monitors it brings up?
Do you have both VGA and DVI cables connected at the moment? If you do it should bring up 2x of the same monitor, from there try and setup multiple displays and make it so the DVI is default and make vga secondary.
