Re: running,but black screen
Well assuming you have checked that EVERYTHING is plugged in, it could be another part that is failing..as far as booting..obviously the screen is black so cant really tell what else could be wrong from that standpoint..maybe try booting with 1 stick of ram...in each slot...i did that for a similar issue and it turned out to be that one of the memory dimm slots on the motherboard went bad...not saying yours is bad but ya never know these days

Re: running,but black screen
is your monitor pluged into the video card when you try to use it? if it is, there may be a conflict between the onboard video and the video card, try disabling the onboard video then shutting down and installing the video card

Re: running,but black screen
Did you remove the drivers for the onboard graphics? I've never used onboard before except for on my laptop, but if the drivers are crashing, that's probably the reason why you get a black screen.
Also like what martini said, did you plug in your monitor to the graphic card? If the slot doesn't fit, try using a DVI-to-VGA adapter.

Re: running,but black screen
Sounds like you need to disable the onboard graphics.
Go into the BIOS, then there should be an option listed under chipset options.
