light on back on gtx280

Post by InspectahACE »

Hey guys..I thought I had all of the kinks worked out but I guess not..my rig's been crashing lately and getting a few BSOD's..I know that on some crashes if not most, the light on the video card is red instead of green. Does anyone know if the light is just for power or does it indicate more than just power issues? I mean..the rig runs fine for a while but it will crash sooner or later..This has happened on both XP and and a fresh install of Vista so I'm leaning towards that it's hardware related. I even thought it was where i had the rig plugged in(the wall outlet at the time) at but that didn't change anything either when i plugged it into the power strip..I've had my cpu, ram, and hard drive for nearly 3 years now..i don't think they would start to show any issues but those are the oldest parts in my rig(in Sig) if that throws up any red flags in anyone's mind

Do you have another system you can try the GTX280 in? You can swap parts in another machine one by one and narrow down the problem component.
