8800 Ultra human head demo.

Post by HONkUS »

This site posted a video clip of an incredible rendering of the head of actor Doug Jones(Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer).

It makes the Adrianne Curry demo look like Dawn. THis is some amazing stuff its actually kinda creepy in my opinion. Anyway heres the link

That feeling of somethings just not quite right is called 'uncanny valley'. Its what needs to be passed for photorealism CGI to be believable.

whats scares me is that we are almost to the point to where we could create cg movies and pass them as real for political gain. What if we rendered a movie of Bin Laden meeting with the president of Iran? It would give Bush all the "proof" he needs to expand his war on terror to another front.

Its a stretch I know but its getting more and more possible each day.

The problem there is that is so far-fetched that someone might actually be able to pull it off (because no one would believe that the government/a corporation/someone made a CGI movie of something to pass it off as real). Maybe all things rendered on computers should have a mandatory digital "I was made on a PC" type signature or something so that people (e.g. law enforcement) can tell if something's fake or the real deal.

Disable adblock plus entirely (on its drop down menu from the little ABP stop sign) and refresh the techblog page.
