WTB GPU and Power Supply

Post by dexterz »

I'm from India and am looking to buy a Mid Range GPU .My options are 8600 GT,8600GTS ,HD2600XT,X1950XT.
Their prices range from 136 to 180USD in India

The PSU i'm looking to buy has these specs
http://zebronics.net/400W_platinum_powersupply.asp
400Watts
+3.3v +5v +12v -12v +5VSB
18A 22A 17A 0.8A 2A

No of Connectors
20+4 Pin main motherboard connector
4 molex 4 Pin connectors
4 Pin 12v Motherboard connector
8 Pin 12v Motherboard connector
One SATA connector
One 6 Pin PCI-E graphics card connector
One floppy drive connector

http://zebronics.net/500W_platinum_powersupply.asp ....500W
+3.3v +5v +12v -12v -5v +5VSB
24A 26A 22A 0.8A 0.5A 2A

The connectors being the same as above.

So is the above PSU ratings enough?
I thought of shipping the card from US but 40% customs duty put me off that idea for some while now......I'm paying the price of a HD3850 to get a 8600GT or HD2600XT...damn

Any suggestions on what to buy or to wait

I think if you don't need DX10, the 1950XT will give the best performance out of those.

Can you get any better brand PSUs? 400W range is ok for those cards, but I bet those PSUs can't output nearly that much.
