Rivatuner isn't saving my settings!?

I currently have a 7950GT BFG OC graphics card and using rivatuner version 2.05 I noticed that when I try to overclock the card and watch the hardware monitor in rivatuner it accepts the new changes, however a few seconds later it reverts back to the default clocks. How can I make the clockspeed I chose permanent? And yes they are within acceptable speeds.

Is a 3d application open and in focus at the time?

It could be that you are setting 3D speeds, and the 2D clocks are left at their usual lower setting and so it defaults to the lower speed when there is no 3D app running.

Oh wow...Since when did Rivatuner have this ability!? I'm so used to the older version where it would permanently have it over clocked regardless of what was on screen. Thanks alot for the information. I was beginning to worry nvidia or BFG automatically lowered clock speeds so users would have to buy new cards instead of getting some extra juice out of them!

You are welcome.

I think it is a development since cards have been introduced with the different speed 2d/3d clocks that rivatuner had to keep up with controlling them. I remember the old school rivatuner too. Overclocking was simpler back then.

Amazing what I learn from these forums. I just upgraded to RivaTuner 2.05 and noticed the same thing but couldn't figure out why 3DMark was showing such low scores. So if I understand correctly, I need to set the drop down to 2D Graphics when I OC my card, then it will automatically step up the OC settings as needed in 3D appps?

No. It should be on the 3D tab, but you wont see the improved clocks unless you are in game. Let rivatuner monitor in the background on the graphs and then see if it is doing the clocks properly from the graphs.

In Vista the biggest complaint I have is the User Account Control (UAC) that stops RivaTuner from loading on system start up. I have given up and just disabled the warnings. Actually that's my 2nd biggest complaint about it, first biggest is the looooong time it takes Vista to load everything on boot including RivaTuner!
