The Chinese-language tech site it168.com posted a couple pictures they claim are of the new GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB. The site says that the GTS will be clocked at 650MHz on the core, 1940MHz for the memory and have 128 shader processors.

So if this is to beat the 8800GT, where will these specs put the revamped GTS in relation to the GTX? Pretty close I would have thought, if not beating it in a fair few places.

My guess is that this will be very close to the performance of the GTX.

And then go up from their............ I'd be willing to bet no retail outlet offers the card for sail at that price seeing as the 8800GT (overclocked versions) are selling for that already.

Yep, you can bet that the opportunists will be looking at supply and demand to add an additional 20% at least for a while. :x

Hell, the 8800GT has been out for a little while now and retailers call it a "sale price" when they list it at MSRP. [-X

Ain't that the truth, I just got a BGF 8800GT OC "ON SALE" for $249.99 plus tax, it should be here today via UPS, I hope anyways.

By looking at the PCB, the new GTS basicly looks exactly like the GT, so I guess it's a OC'd GT with 128 shader processors, plus the dual slot cooler.

Nvidia won’t launch Geforce 8800 GTS 512 cards based on G92 on the 3rd or 4th of December as many implied. The new date is the middle of the month, between the 12th and 14th.

Geforce 8800 GT 512MB is still hard to get and we doubt that the situation will get better anytime soon, as the card is great and the demand is massive.

This new sort of high-end card has every chance to be faster than 8800 GTX or even Ultra, but it will be crippled at some ultra high resolutions due to its 256 bit memory interface.

It will arrive just in time for the holidays and we can just hope that there will be enough of them to go around for everyone.

I don't think anyone knows for sure at this point so take it with a grain of salt...I am interested to see how it compares to the GTX & GT. My guess is that shortly after a 1GB GT with 128 (or better) shader processors will be launched.

More info which seems to contradict some earlier info...I don't necessarily believe this info.
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS

* There will be a refresh of the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB.
* However, it won't be based on the G92, but an improved version of the G80 GPU.
* The new NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS will have a soft launch on December 3, 2007 with market availability only two weeks later, from December 17 onwards.

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

* Supply issues with the GeForce 8800 GT cards (and their inflated prices) will end by early December.
* The 256MB GeForce 8800 GT actually had a soft launch two weeks ago, but the first cards will only be available by the end of this month, or early December.

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX & Ultra

* There won't be any refresh of these two models, at least not in 2007.
* One of their built-in feature will differentiate them from the other models when the new NVIDIA chipsets are launched. This will keep them desirable, at least to enthusiasts with deep pockets.
* The G80 variant used in the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra is known internally as the G80+.

It all looks like guesswork at the minute, but it leads to some exciting products being released for us. ^_^

Can't wait to find out.

More rumor mill...

http://en.expreview.com/?p=51
There’s lots of info about G92-8800GTS, and we would like review it again: it will out in 11 Dec, have 128 SP, using 8800GT’s PCB design, and have a upgraded dual slot cooler. The frequency will be 650/1625/1940MHz(core/shader/memory), higher than refrence 8800GT.

Though source mention that G92-8800GTS will use two 6pin power connector, but the product looks only have one. the total power consumption will be as much as 140W. manufacturer suggest using a juicy ATX PSU.

There’s some pics leaked earlier, but the pic is too mall, and under that cooler actually is a naked 8800GT with changed different baffle plate. And also the power module is different.

Nvidia's upcoming GTS version of the G92, also known as the 8800 GTS 512MB is aparently not far away according to several sources and we're likely looking at a mid-December launch.

Although we doubt very much that Nvidia will officially launch this card, as it's a replacement for a current product, rather than a new product.

Nonetheless, it appears that the chips will be labeled G92-400-A2 whereas the 8800 GT is labeled G92-270-A2. Since we're looking at a slightly different feature set, this isn't that strange.

The retail pricing is mean to be around US$299-349 and these cards should outperform the current generation of 640MB GTS card and maybe even some of the lower clocked GTX cards with any luck.

You can find a nice big picture of this upcoming card here

So it's rumored to be a 128-shader, 256-bit, 512MB card? That seems like it would be better (shaders) and worse (256-bit)...

I love how he was sent a card by an insider like that. That'd be the best parcel ever to get.

<-- Still wondering why it wasn't pitted against the 8800GTX? :-k

**UPDATE** They have updated the site and the GTS BESTED the GTX in Crysis @ 1920 x 1200!

That's fully understandable and sort of expected really............ Seeing as the GT came so close to beating it in alot of tests and exceed its scores in others, the GTS just had to do better with its "EXTRAS"..............

I'm wondering what would happen if they clocked the GT to the same as the GTS (or vice versa)?
