Rivatuner & G92 Based 8800 GTS

Post by FZ1 »

I noticed my fan running slow on my 8800 GTS (G92) card and it getting insanely hot when running (it's clocked at 730 by default). So, I installed Rivatuner to adjust the fan speed. I have used Rivatuner before but when I tried to access the settings, they weren't available.

So, a little bit of Google-ing led me to this find out that RivaTuner doesn't recognize the new 8800 GTS (G92) #-o as of the current version 2.06, Howeverm if you go to RivaTuner.cfg, open it with a text editor, find the line reads:

Code: Select all

G92= 610h-61Fh
change this to (append ",600h"):

Code: Select all

G92= 610h-61Fh,600h
Everything should work from there. Make sure you have permission to alter the file first.

Make sure you download the latest version , 2.06 . I have no problems with RivaTunner (2.06) in XP/Vista x64 and my 8800GT .

Also ... look for a possible new bios for your card as there is a bios fan bug in most/all the the new G92 cards . Evga and BFG have already posted new bio's updates for the GT series that fix the slow fan speed bug .

This is specifically for the 8800 GTS 512MB G92 cards. The GT's are OK.
