Problems overclocking Asus 8600gt, PSU problem?

Hello
I am having a bit of trouble with overclocking my Asus 8600gt. From reviews that I have seen this card was able to reach core speeds of 670Mhz - 690Mhz stable, and a memory clock of 880Mhz from 540/700

.
My problem is that I cant get it past 610/790

(RivaTuner) without stability issues. My suspicion is that it runs out of juice. I got a iSonic 350W PSU with 28A combined Amps, 18A on the 12V rail. This card does not have any external power connector but still above mentioned clocks were reached regardless. Could it be that my PSU isn't pushing enough juice through the mainboard, to power the pci-e slot sufficiently.
Anybody know what else could be causing the problem, I would appreciate some help. Do I need to buy a new PSU?

the PSU or the heat...or both. also: not every card is capable of the same overclocks. the heat is the #1 enemy of both memory and GPU. you have to make sure you get sufficient cooling or you will end up with a fried card...

Cooling is fine never goes above 62 degrees. I doubt that is a thermal issue as its got a good quality copper fin cooler. I still do not get how my psu can't push 75W to my pci-e slot. If I remember correctly this is what the pci-e slot can provide.

Yea its not very hard to do a Vmod. I have done a vmod to my 8600gt leadtek. What problem are you having. If you can't oc more without losing performance and its not heat. It's probably the lack of a power connector unless your card came with one then this step is easier.

I dont know the first thing about modding so a vmod is risky as I will probably end up frying the card. A new psu is a more likely route for me. Will a new quality psu solve my oc issue or is the lack of a power connector on the card the real issue, so a new psu won't make any difference?

New PSU won't make a difference if the card simply doesn't give the GPU enough voltage

Okay thx for the help, I am just gonna run this card non-overclocked. Its only a bridge card until the 9-series arrive anyway.
