Gamers know the Power is in the GPU

Post by Apoptosis »

Take a look at the Popular YouGamers Hardware charts. This data has been collected from users of the Game-o-Meter tool. Game-o-Meter uses this data to estimate a system's gaming performance.

From a period of roughly 6 months measured on over 750k users, NVIDIA is driving DX10 HW (SM4.0) hardware adoption at almost a 5:1 ratio of Quad Core CPU adoption. Or another way to look at it – people are upgrading a SM2.0/3.0 GPU to SM4.0 GPU before they upgrade from Single/Dual Core to Quad Core CPU.

Interesting chart.

I think that most people know that games don't take advantage of more than one core. Be interesting to see the further stats breakdown (at work now so will check it out later).

My motherboard from 2005 supports new GPUs. My motheboard from 2005 does not support quad cores CPUs.

Easy answer for me.
