NVIDIA Marketing is back at it this week...
We’re Number One! (Insert [ur=http://cheerleading.about.com/od/jumps/ ... p_kewi.htm]Herkie[/url]). We’re Number One!

Hey, Doug Freedman of American Technology Research said it, not me.

“Double attach” is a term Jensen threw out at our Analyst Day. The term means that many PCs that ship with an integrated Intel graphics chip will be ‘double attached’ to a discrete graphics card. The integrated chip is disabled and goes unused. While Intel “technically” has larger market share, according to Cnet blogger Brooke Crothers, the story may be different if you take out all the unused Intel chips.

"The overall 'double attach' is about 35 percent," said Jon Peddie. That puts a sizable dent in Intel's market share. A recent report from Doug Freedman of American Technology Research went so far to say this: "NVIDIA remains the No.1 graphics supplier as up to 73 mil Integrated (Intel) IGPs are unused in systems due to 'double-attach' with a NVIDIA solution."

Intel grabs market share by selling its integrated graphics at near cost (or giving it away). Performance is very low and a large number of applications don’t even run on their graphics. True leadership requires real innovation and usable products.

The Game Browser is Live

We've just launched a new way to quickly browse and find the games you're looking for on nZone. Whether you want to sort by genre, price, ESRB rating or any combination in between, the new nZone Game Browser has you covered. Check it out!

This tool has been developed over the last several weeks by our web team and the nzone.com team. Over the next few weeks, the entire “catalog” of The Way It’s Meant to be Played titles will be available in the browser. Eventually, the plan is to allow advanced searches on game detail like development team information, games that will run on your system configuration and more.

Killer App for the PS3

GameDaily says the controversial game Grand Theft Auto 4 is driving (pun intended) PlayStation 2 owners to buy up NVIDIA-equipped PlayStation 3 consoles.

According to Bob McKenzie, Senior Vice President, Merchandising, at GameStop, the release of Rockstar's GTA IV appears to be doing exactly what Sony had hope it would – driving further adoption of the PlayStation 3 and convincing the huge PS2 installed base to finally upgrade.

Virtual Earth 2 = Wow Factor

Visual computing applications are popping up all over the web and the ones we already have are quickly moving to next-gen status. Recently the O’Reilly Rader blog visited Microsoft Research's Location Summit and got a look at Virtual Earth 2. Holy cow that looks great.
