NVIDIA Dictates Advertised Video Card Pricing

Post by geokilla »

Hmm, I was wondering why I couldn't see the prices of 8800GT and stuff on NCIX. I had to click "add to cart" to see em, or if there was a mail in rebate going on, then I can see the price of the card without having to go to the cart.

IMO, that's messed up, PITA, everything negative that one can possibly think of.

Canada Computers still shows the price of the 8800GT and stuff. That's one place which isn't following NVIDIA's UMAP policy.

Wow, that is sucky.

Hopefully it won't be a worldwide thing.

To bad Newegg didn't stick to their guns, they are an extremely huge retailer with a good deal of weight. They should have given NVIDIA the finger after NVIDIA threatened to cut them off.

I am extremely annoyed over this, not only does it make search engines useless but nothing gripes me more than having to add something to my cart, then click my cart to find out the final price. I almost never buy from stores that pull this trick.

I just tested it out... apparently it does not even add it to your real cart. Because if you add things to your cart, they then stay there for a day or two. Most stores probably won't have it set up as conveniently as Newegg I bet.

Interesting read to say the least .

Nvidia has been cutting their own throat as of late considering they now have three fairly new generations of v/cards selling at the same time (8800/9800/G200) ; so why take it out on the consumer . [-X

Nice to see that Newegg's on top of things :P
