Wow, 8 gigs of video memory? Is that really neccesary?

things like these with the 8gbs of graphics memory are what they use to drive places like major stock trading locations (IE: wallstreet) to drive all those displays at once. if something like an 280gtx tried to do that, even though its great at gaming it would fail epicly. stuff like this is also used in engineering, my dads department has a couple of computers kinda like this (with a bunch of quadros) hooked together with 10gig fiber network
