New drivers were released by NVIDIA on 9.25.2008. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us Driver version 178.13 show a greater level of support for CUDA, PhysX and Folding@Home by Nvidia, as well as a pretty fair increase in gaming performance for both single card and SLI applications.

Also released on 9.23.2008, NVIDIA System Tools http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_sys ... _6.02.html , which enables GPU overclocking and temperature monitoring.

Youre ^$%#ing kidding me o.o

I haven't changed my forceware in months and months then today, right after midnight, I was so bored that I decided to get current with my nvidia goodness. Got the Power Pack and went through the rigamaroll...

:| Time to do it again. Thanks for the update man.
Maybe this time I'll stay current for a while ;)

I haven't updated drivers to see what the improvement will be myself... so if you are stable with the 177.84 I'd just keep them rocking until you have to restart for Windows Updates or something else. I'll try to post up any noticeable gains tomorrow.

Eh, I might as well since I've got the driver cleaner procedures fresh in my mind :D

good luck. let us know if you have any gains. I won't be able to install until after my son's soccer game tomorrow so you'll probably have logs by then.

Installed the new drivers on my wife's rig with the 9600GSO earlier today. Nothing Earth shattering, perhaps 1 second per step faster, but I didn't expect a huge increase, but it has been stable so far.

Same here, but at least I'm current :D

Did you see the voltage control option in the new system tools options?
It's greyed out for me, but I wonder when that may come in handy.

Didn't get much chance to mess with it today. Only reason my wife's rig got the new drivers is it was sometimes crash when she tries to exit fullscreen Flash games. Error log lead back to a driver issue.

So I could just install the 178.13 and the NVIDIA System Tools right? I don't need to install the PHSYX pack or something like that?

Also, off topic but I got a question that might be driver related. Since my 9600GT supports PHSYX, CUDA, etc. should my 9600GT be putting out respectable frames in 3DMark06's CPU tests? I'm looking for a good overclock and I noticed that during the CPU tests, my FPS ranges from 0 to 2. I thought the new drivers would let the 9600GT do some CPU calculations in 3DMark06.

Those CPU tests are HARD from what i can see, you're lucky to hit 2fps at all :D

I'm happy to say after 4 days my GPU folding has been rock steady!
The periodic instability I had with the last drivers seems to be a thing of the past!

:supz:
