I would say that the 6600GT is around the same performance level as the 9800pro. its only drawback is the limitation when it comes to memory you can get the 9800pro with 256 the same is not true with the 6600gt.

Does the FX 5900/5950 have 256 MB and the same GPU as the 6600GT?? My mainboard does not support PCI plus. I am just looking for a good quality card of the same performance level as the 9800 pro. I have seen a few threads with people complaining avout problems with ATI thats why I am looking at Nvidia as well.

The 9800 Pro has a 256 bit interface while the 6600GT has a 128 bit. It seems to me the 9800 Pro is the best for the money.

I've had my 9800 Pro since the day it came out, and god I'm still in love with the card. I'd kill to have an X850, but I don't have that kind of cash right now!

Upgrading to a 6600GT on my level would be pointless just due to the fact that benches are very close. The 6600GT is newer, but not necessairly the greatest.

humm what u guys talking about, he wanan performous equalvilase not technical equality, 6600GT is higher performus than R9800P/XT and with SM 3.0, get 6600GT or 6800 both are the same price @ my locl store, i recommand 6800, both has AGP and some of them u can unlock be come 6800GT/Ultra

Well, a 6800NU "becoming" a 6800GT/U is a bit of an exaggeration. However, the 6800NU AGP can sometimes unlock. I saw a jump from 103.4 FPS to 115.5 FPS in the CS:S stress test without any OCing...OC an unlocked 6800NU for some real fun.
