my mates got a an ati hd3000 series and it is 256 but reads 512mb in dxdiag. i told him to run gpu-z and it tells him the same thing. to test it i told him to run 3dmark 06 and that should tell you how much better it is or run gta4 go into the graphics setting and see what your system resource limit is and true enough it said 486mb out of 512 he has. he got a bargin lol.

do the same if you can and report back telling us what you see and got!

ok think i got it let see so my video is 256mb but if i play higher games it can steal some of my system memory to play the game is that right. if it is does that mean my sysytem will still use the actual 4gb ram i got in it when im not playing games.

Correct, it only uses it if and when it needs to.
