Zotac GTS 250 X2 Spotted

Post by Gomeler »

I spotted this random card over at XtremeSystems. It is two GTS250 GPUs linked together with an NF200 to give G92b one last hurrah before Fermi hits the streets. If priced proper this card could be a decent mid-range card, if you can live without DX11.

I'm going to do my best to get one and I'll definitely make sure to test F@H on it.

This would basically be a 9800GX2.

Yup but 55nm instead of 65nm and single PCB instead of dual PCB. Should be insanely cheaper too :)

This is nice and all, but I do not see why anyone would buy this when Nvidia's DirectX 11 offering is around the corner. Not having DirectX 11 capabilities limits the cool things that can be done with the card.

Not everyone has $500 to spend on a video card :)

Let's face it, there's really no DX11 game that is worth it out anyway. Even today its still mostly DX9. The only DX11 game that looks worth having on the horizon is Metro 2033 and that's only because Nvidia is using it as their launch title with their GTX4** series.

I smell vaporware....even if it hits the streets, I think it will be in very small amounts. Then again, what do I know...time will tell.

DirectX 11 titles are not plentiful now, but I am sure that it will catch on much quicker than DirectX 10. Perhaps buying a first generation DirectX 11 card is not wise, but the refined second generation may be worth it.

Had a short exchange with Zotac and it isn't good. This card will be sold solely on mainland China, so no chance of a sale in North America and no point in attempting to review it. Oh well, on to the next toy I can find :)

That sucks. I hate when they release hardware only in certain places.
