NVIDIA Secures Exclusive Bundling Right to Call of Duty 2

Post by Apoptosis »

Just got this in my e-mail box less than 5 minutes ago:
NVIDIA Secures Exclusive Bundling Right to Call of Duty 2

NVIDIA GeForce graphic processing units (GPUs) have been selected by Activision as the preferred platform for Call of Duty 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Call of Duty which is the winner of over 80 “Game of the Year” awards. To enable gamers to experience Call of Duty 2 as it was truly intended, NVIDIA has reached an agreement with Activision that allows partners of NVIDIA to bundle the Call of Duty 2 game with graphics cards based on the award-winning series of GeForce GPUs. In a few minutes, you will start to see NVIDIA partners offering their NVIDIA-based graphics cards with Call of Duty 2.

Under the agreement, NVIDIA is granted exclusive bundling rights to Call of Duty 2, making partners of NVIDIA the only source to get Call of Duty 2 outside of a stand-alone purchase of the game in retail. NVIDIA bundles will occur simultaneously with the retail launch of Call of Duty 2. NVIDIA and Activision will also participate in joint advertising and various promotional activities through the holiday selling season to make consumers aware that NVIDIA is the preferred GPU from Call of Duty 2.

A pre-sale program for GeForce-based graphics cards bundled with Call of Duty 2 starts immediately. US partners that will participate include:

BFG: http://www.bfgtech.com/COD2_bundle.html
XFX: http://www.xfxforce.com/cod2
EVGA: http://www.evga.com/community/promos/cod2

The links for preorders will go live today. A news release will follow in the next day or two.
I'm glad to see that someone is going to bundle this game with their cards.

Hey, there's a contest to win a free 7800 card on that eVGA link. Looks like they're using the results for picking out a design for their bundle box packaging.

For three cards, that's a pretty good deal for eVGA's marketing department.
