Hi guys,
I am having a real problem in my XFX 6200 card. It doesnt play any videos, games run fine. Movies in game runs fine too. But any other video file makes my comp lock.
When i see the properties box, it shows PCI bus, instead of AGP, its an AGP 8X card. I tried changing it in the BIOS settings of my motherboard. And when I boot my comp, it doesnt show the BIOS info on the screen as it used to show with my Geforce 5200 card.
Please HELP!!

Well, first thing to do is change your BIOS settings back to the way they were. A lot of those settings don't matter anymore once you're in Windows anyway.
The second thing is to update your chipset drivers.
For Intel: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts ... 6&lang=eng
For VIA: http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2
For SiS: http://www.sis.com/download
For nVidia: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
Pretty common problem after clean installs. The motherboard doesn't have the proper chipset drivers and simply runs on generic drivers without AGP support.
Though sometimes it's just a graphical bug and doesn't affect performance at all. You should be able to tell after updating your chipset.

Thanks a lot. But i did install the latest chipset drivers from Intel. but i did that without reinstalling the OS. I did change the BIOS settings as before. Should I reinstall the OS and then install the chipset drivers and then install my card?
Ehh... generally I reserve such an option as a last resort, but if you have the time and the patience sure, go ahead.
Otherwise I'd try some other stuff first, such as checking whether or not it affects performance. I mean... if you can run Halo/FarCry/DOOM3/Q4/etc on high quality on that 6200, I would very much doubt it's really running in PCI mode.
As for videos not playing, might be an issue with whatever media player you're using or your codecs, try reinstalling those. Windows Media Player or actually, any media player I used a while ago would crash as soon as I opened any Xvid avi file, reinstalling the Xvid codecs fixed it for me.

Yeah, i tried running games like NFS MW, it suns very fine with all the settings. But when it comes to playing videos, the computer hangs.
My motherboard has an in built video controller i.e Intel. When I remove my XFX and install drivers for the built-in one, i get no video problems. And when I connect my XFX again the problems pops.
After this I dont think there is any problem with the video codecs or so.
Please help me , coz right now i am like, to play games use my XFX and to watch movies, its the in-built one. Very frustrating>

I think there are seperate drivers for Intel chipsets, 1 for no GFX and another for when on-board GFX is enabled? (never use on-board GFX sorry)
When you said you reinstalled the Intel chipset drivers, did you just reinstall the same drivers you used when using the on-board gfx?
If so, get the latest "standard" drivers for you chipset from intel.com
I'm almost certain this is just a driver issue........
You could try installing Gordian Knot Codec Pack, could just be a codec prob?

I did install the latest chipset drivers as u told but the same thing still persists. What i am not able to understand is that when it can run games and the movies of the games why it isnt running 'stand alone' videos.
If it was runnin in PCI mode I am sure the performance would have been affected in the games, but this is not so. I am no table to think of any reason which is causin this.

if its in the AGP slot it cant run in PCI mode, unless your using the ASRock motherboard, then i think it uses the PCI bus for the extra AGP slot. You may also want to try downloading and installing the latest version of DirectX it could be corupted DirectDraw files.
